The Rotary Big Knit 2018

Both pictures are of Holy Trinity Church Hall, Cliftonville.

The Rotary Big Knit 2018 was held on Saturday the 17th March. This was our 9th year and over 130 people registered for the event. Despite the awful weather on the day, 112 of the those who registered turned out to support The Thanet Sunrise Rotary Big Knit in aid of local charities. In this instance – Pilgrims Hospice, Headway East Kent (brain injuries support), Prostate Cancer support association Kent, and Thanet Young Carers. Once again it was held at the Holy Trinity Church, Cliftonville.

This is a sponsored fundraising and attracts people of all ages, knitting and socialising.

The youngest knitter to take part

Sponsors pledge money for every inch knitted in one and half hours or a fixed sum. If you are interested in taking part, contact us for a sponsorship form or click on the link below and print one out. Better still organise a table of friends to join you. If you cannot attend the event itself, join those who take part by knitting at home.

The money raised is only used to support local charities and this year, as mentioned above, the main beneficiaries were Pilgrims Hospice, Headway, Prostate Cancer support and Thanet Young Carers.

Some groups of knitters groups take part every year. The knitted pieces do not get wasted. Instead they are used to make into colourful blankets which are also donated to charity
